Your newest channel is hiding in direct traffic.

People ask an assistant for a recommendation, then arrive on your site with no referrer and no campaign tag. Convultra identifies that traffic, names the assistant it came from, and follows it through to conversions and revenue.

Why it goes missing

Analytics has nowhere to file it.

Assistant traffic breaks every assumption standard analytics makes about where a visit came from, so it lands in the one bucket nobody can act on.

No referrer arrives Most assistants strip the referring URL, or open your page inside their own browser. Analytics sees a visit with no origin and files it as direct.
No campaign tags You cannot tag a link you did not place. Nothing in the URL says the recommendation came from an assistant answer.
Sessions do not line up People read the answer on a phone and buy on a laptop later, which splits one decision into two unrelated sessions.
Crawlers inflate the counts Assistant crawlers read your pages constantly. Counted as visitors, they quietly distort every rate on the dashboard.
How detection works

Four signals, checked on every visit.

Detection runs server-side on the request itself, so it works when the referrer is stripped and when the visit happens inside an assistant's own browser. Nothing extra to install.

01 Referrer Known assistant and answer-engine domains are matched and named, including the ones that redirect through a link wrapper.
02 In-app browser Visits opened inside an assistant's built-in browser are identified from the client signature, not the referrer.
03 Crawler log Assistant crawlers are logged separately, so you can see which pages are being read for answers and keep bots out of your session counts.
04 Conversion link The visit is stored first-party, so a purchase days later is still credited to the assistant that started it.

What to do with it

A number you can take a decision from.

Knowing the channel exists is the easy part. These are the three questions teams answer with it in the first month.

Is it worth the content spend?Assistant sessions next to the conversions and revenue they produced, so the case for writing for answer engines is made with money rather than vibes.
Which pages get cited? The landing pages assistants send people to, and the pages their crawlers read most, so you know what to expand and what to leave alone.
How does it convert?Conversion rate and order value for assistant traffic against paid, organic and direct. Often a smaller channel that closes better.
Honest limits

What we do not claim

Not the prompt We cannot see what someone asked the assistant. No tool can. You get the assistant, the landing page and the outcome.
Not a citation tracker We report the traffic and crawlers you actually receive, not a synthetic score for how often a model mentions you.
Not guesswork If a visit cannot be attributed to an assistant with confidence, it stays in direct. We would rather undercount than inflate a new channel.

Before you install

Which assistants are detected?

ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot, plus other answer engines as their referrers and client signatures become identifiable. Paid ChatGPT ad clicks arrive with their own click ID and are reported with paid channels, not here.

Is AI Attribution an add-on?

No. It is included on every plan, including Starter, with no extra event charge.

Do AI crawlers count as visitors?

No. Crawlers such as GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot are filtered out of every traffic, conversion and revenue figure and reported separately in the crawler log.

Can I get this data out?

Yes. The REST API and MCP server (beta) expose AI referral sessions, conversions and revenue per assistant, plus the filtered-out crawler activity.

AI Attribution is on every plan, including Starter.

No add-on, no separate seat, no extra event charge.
