7 Best Stape Alternatives in 2026 (Managed and Self-Hosted)

The 7 best Stape alternatives in 2026, compared on price, setup effort and what you actually have to maintain. Managed platforms and sGTM hosts side by side.

The best Stape alternative depends on which part of Stape you want to leave behind. If it is the container itself, the configuration, the tag templates, the Friday evening debugging, then a managed platform such as Convultra (from $49 a month) delivers the same server-side conversions without any container to run. If you like server-side GTM and just want different hosting, TAGGRS, Addingwell and Cloudflare Zaraz each host it differently at a different price. The seven tools below cover both paths, and the choice comes down to one question: do you want to own a tagging server, or do you want the conversions?

Two kinds of Stape alternative

Stape hosts a server-side Google Tag Manager container. You still build every client, tag and trigger inside it, and you still own the result when something drifts. Hosts such as TAGGRS, Addingwell and Zaraz keep that model with different infrastructure, regions and prices, so moving between them is a hosting decision, not an architecture decision. Managed platforms such as Convultra, Tracklution and WeTracked.io remove the container: you install a script or a plugin, the platform captures conversions server-side, persists click IDs, hashes user data and forwards events to the ad platforms. You give up granular routing and get your evenings back. Our server-side tracking page covers the mechanics and the Stape comparison goes head to head.

How we evaluated these tools

Each tool was assessed on what you maintain (a container, or nothing), time to first accurate conversion, which ad platforms it forwards to today, how it handles deduplication and click ID persistence, pricing shape and what happens when a delivery fails.

Disclosure: this article is published by Convultra. Convultra is included in the list and judged by the same criteria as every other tool. Pricing and plan limits for all seven tools were checked against each vendor’s live pricing page on 14 September 2026. Confirm current figures before you commit.

The 7 tools, in detail

1. Convultra: Best managed alternative for teams who want the outcome without a container

Convultra is managed server-side conversion tracking. You add a script of about 10KB (async, gzipped), a WordPress or WooCommerce plugin, or the GTM template, and the platform does the rest: capturing conversions server-side, persisting gclid, gbraid, wbraid, fbclid, msclkid, ttclid and oppref past browser storage limits, hashing personal data with SHA-256 before it is sent to any ad platform, and deduplicating against your existing pixels with shared event IDs. Setup takes about five minutes, and the recovery report shows you the conversions your pixels were missing, which is typically 30 to 40 percent of the total.

The part Stape users notice first is the delivery log: every conversion has a record of where it was sent, when, and whether the platform accepted it, so a rejected event is visible the same day rather than three weeks later. AI Attribution is included on every plan, so ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot referrals show as their own source instead of vanishing into direct.

Pricing: Starter $49 a month (1,000 conversions, 1 project), Growth $149 (5,000 conversions, 3 projects), Scale $299 (15,000 conversions, 10 projects). Annual billing saves 20 percent. Pricing is per conversion, not per request or page view, and there are no overage fees; if you go over the limit two months running you move up a plan with seven days notice. 14-day free trial of Growth. Full detail on the pricing page.

Strengths:

  • Nothing to configure or maintain: no container, no clients, no tag templates
  • Delivery log and recovery report show exactly what was sent and what was recovered
  • AI Attribution on every plan, Audience Sync to Google Ads Customer Match and OpenAI Ads Custom Audiences, agency dashboard with log in as client, REST API and MCP server in beta

Limitations:

  • Ad platform forwarding is Google Ads and OpenAI Ads today. Meta, Microsoft Ads and TikTok forwarding are coming soon, so if you need Meta CAPI this week, look at Tracklution or WeTracked.io
  • Shopify app is coming soon; the script tag works on any Shopify store, but there is no one-click install yet
  • No custom transformations or routing to arbitrary endpoints

Best for: Marketer-led teams and agencies on Google Ads who want accurate conversions, a clear record of every delivery and a bill that does not move with traffic.

2. Tracklution: Best managed pipeline with the widest platform list

Tracklution is a Finnish managed platform in the same camp as Convultra: install a script or a plug-and-play app for Shopify, WooCommerce or WordPress and it forwards conversions through its own pipeline, not a GTM container. Paid plans connect Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Microsoft Ads, Reddit, Klaviyo, GA4 and OpenAI Ads, and agencies get a multi-client account with white-label options on the custom-priced Agency plan.

Pricing: Free plan for up to 5,000 events a month on one website, Meta and Google Ads only. Grow is 39.20 EUR a month billed annually, includes 50,000 events, with extra events at 0.0008 EUR each. Enterprise and Agency are custom priced. 14-day trial, no card.

Strengths:

  • Broadest set of ad platform connectors among the managed tools here
  • Plug-and-play apps for Shopify, WooCommerce and WordPress

Limitations:

  • Grow covers a single website; multiple sites means Enterprise or Agency and a sales conversation
  • Per-event pricing rises with tracked events, not conversions
  • No AI referral attribution

Best for: Small businesses that need Meta and TikTok forwarding today and want a managed pipeline rather than a container. See the Tracklution comparison.

3. TAGGRS: Best like-for-like sGTM host on EU infrastructure

TAGGRS is a Dutch sGTM host and the most direct swap for Stape here: a server-side GTM container on European infrastructure (UpCloud), a growing template library and agency tooling. Everything you build in Stape you rebuild here, and everything you maintain in Stape you maintain here too.

Pricing: Free for up to 10,000 requests. Basic is 22 EUR a month on annual billing (25 EUR billed monthly) for 750,000 requests. Pro is 57 EUR for 3,000,000 requests, Ultimate 127 EUR for 10,000,000. Webshop variants cost a few euros more. Enterprise is custom with unlimited requests. USD pricing is available.

Strengths:

  • Cheapest paid sGTM tier among the hosts here
  • EU-based company and infrastructure, useful when procurement asks where the data lives

Limitations:

  • Still a container: configuration, dedup and maintenance are your job
  • Per-request billing climbs with traffic, not conversions
  • Template ecosystem is smaller than Stape’s

Best for: Agencies and technical teams that want Stape’s model at a lower price with EU hosting. See the TAGGRS comparison.

Addingwell is a French sGTM host acquired by the consent platform Didomi in 2025, so consent signals travel with the data through the container. It runs multi-region infrastructure with a guided setup and a large partner network. Like TAGGRS, it is a container you build and own.

Pricing: Free for up to 100,000 requests a month. Then 90 EUR for 1,000,000 requests, 120 EUR for 5,000,000, 210 EUR for 12,000,000, 360 EUR for 25,000,000, up to 1,190 EUR for 100,000,000. Additional requests are billed per 100,000. Multi-region, domain linking and extra containers are add-ons at 10 to 30 EUR a month.

Strengths:

  • Consent management and server-side tagging from one vendor
  • Generous free tier for testing

Limitations:

  • The first paid tier is 90 EUR, which is high for a small site that only needs a few hundred thousand requests
  • Container model, with all the maintenance that implies

Best for: Mid-size sites and agencies in Europe that want sGTM and a consent platform designed to work together.

5. Elevar: Best for Shopify stores with complex funnels

Elevar is the best-known server-side data layer for Shopify. The Shopify app captures every checkout and subscription event, validates it, and forwards to more than 50 destinations. It is the strongest option here for a large Shopify store.

Pricing: Core $225 a month for 2,000 orders and up to 2 destinations, with overage at $0.50 an order. Advanced $650 for 10,000 orders and 4 destinations, overage $0.15. Premium $1,250 for 30,000 orders, Elite from $3,000. 15-day free trial.

Strengths:

  • Deepest Shopify data layer in the category
  • Event validation tooling that catches broken tags before they cost you

Limitations:

  • $225 a month for 2,000 orders and two destinations is expensive for a small store
  • Overage at $0.50 an order on Core is the highest in this list
  • Shopify-centric

Best for: Shopify and Shopify Plus merchants at volume. See the Elevar comparison.

6. WeTracked.io: Best managed tracking for Shopify and WooCommerce stores

WeTracked.io is a managed first-party tracking tool for Shopify and WooCommerce (plus several funnel builders). It forwards purchases to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Snapchat, Pinterest and X, integrates with Klaviyo, and claims a five-minute setup.

Pricing: Starter $49 a month for 500 orders across up to 3 stores, Business $149 for 3,000 orders and 5 stores, Scale-up $249 for 7,500 orders and 10 stores. Enterprise is custom. Annual billing saves 20 percent. 14-day trial and a 60-day money-back guarantee.

Strengths:

  • Native Shopify and WooCommerce installs
  • Meta and TikTok forwarding live today

Limitations:

  • Priced per order; a store doing 600 orders a month is already on the $149 plan
  • No Microsoft Ads forwarding listed

Best for: Shopify and WooCommerce stores that want a managed pipeline with Meta live now. See the WeTracked comparison.

7. Cloudflare Zaraz: Best if your site already sits behind Cloudflare

Zaraz is Cloudflare’s tag manager. It loads Facebook Pixel, Google Ads, TikTok, GA4 and around 30 other tools from Cloudflare’s edge rather than the browser, and has an HTTP Events API for sending purchases from your server. It is neither server-side GTM nor a managed conversion platform.

Pricing: 1,000,000 Zaraz Events a month free on every Cloudflare account, then $5 for each additional 1,000,000 Events.

Strengths:

  • Cheapest option in this list by a wide margin
  • Nothing to host; it is part of the Cloudflare dashboard

Limitations:

  • You are limited to the tools Cloudflare supports and the way it maps events; there is no custom tag ecosystem
  • No conversion-level delivery log or recovery report
  • Cloudflare recommends proxying your site through its network, a bigger decision than picking a tag manager

Best for: Teams already on Cloudflare who want a fast, cheap way to run pixels from the edge. See the Zaraz comparison.

How to choose

If you are leaving Stape because you do not want to run a container, choose a managed platform. Convultra is the pick for Google Ads teams and agencies who want a delivery log and conversion-based pricing; Tracklution or WeTracked.io if you need Meta and TikTok forwarding this week.

If you like sGTM and want to keep it, TAGGRS is the cheapest like-for-like host and Addingwell the one to pick when consent handling matters. The self-hosted sGTM comparison covers the third option: running the container yourself.

If you run a large Shopify store, compare Elevar against WeTracked.io on order volume. Elevar wins on depth, WeTracked.io on price below 10,000 orders a month.

If your site is already on Cloudflare, try Zaraz first. Add a managed platform when you want a delivery log, recovery reporting or attribution.

If you are an agency, price the whole book. Convultra’s agency plan is a wholesale per-client rate, quoted on request, with better rates at 10 and 25 clients; details on the agency page.

FAQ

Why would you look for a Stape alternative?

Three reasons come up most. You do not want to build and maintain a server-side GTM container, so a managed platform that delivers the conversions without one is a better fit. You want your tagging server in a specific region or with a specific provider. Or request volume has climbed to where per-request hosting plus the hours to maintain it costs more than a flat-price tool. Stape is a good product; it is just one shape of product.

What is the cheapest Stape alternative?

On subscription price alone, Cloudflare Zaraz, with 1,000,000 Zaraz Events a month free on every Cloudflare plan and $5 for each additional million. Among sGTM hosts, TAGGRS starts at 22 euros a month and Addingwell at 90 euros for one million requests, with free tiers below that. The subscription is rarely the real cost: if someone has to configure and maintain a container, their hours dwarf the hosting fee.

Is a managed platform better than server-side GTM?

For a marketer-led team, usually yes. A managed platform such as Convultra installs in about five minutes, handles click ID persistence, hashing and deduplication, and shows you a delivery log when something fails. Server-side GTM gives you complete control of every tag and endpoint, which an engineering-led team wants and a two-person marketing team has no time for.

Can I move from Stape to a managed platform without losing data?

Yes. Run the two in parallel for two weeks with your existing pixels untouched. Deduplication through shared event IDs stops the ad platform double counting while both are live. Once the managed platform is delivering the conversions you expect, switch the container off. Historic conversions already sit in your ad accounts, so nothing is lost.

Do Stape alternatives support Meta Conversions API?

Most do, but check the status. Tracklution, WeTracked.io and Elevar forward to Meta today. Stape, TAGGRS and Addingwell forward to Meta through whatever tags you configure in the container. Zaraz forwards Meta events from Cloudflare’s edge. Convultra’s Meta forwarding is coming soon; Google Ads forwarding with enhanced conversions and OpenAI Ads forwarding are live now.

Next step

If the container is the part of Stape you want to leave behind, run Convultra alongside your current setup for two weeks. Install takes about five minutes, the recovery report shows what your pixels missed, and the delivery log shows every event that reached Google Ads or OpenAI Ads. The trial is 14 days of Growth. Cancel before it ends and pay nothing.
